MY GO-TO COOKBOOKS

Happy Monday friends!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We are on Spring Break this week and I have a huge event this weekend for Shop Rooted and Free so I am going to do my best with blogging this week but it may be hit or miss.

Anyways, today I wanted to share my favorite cookbooks with you. It is kind of random but, kind of not. Lol. The other day I was talking to some friends about meal planning, the current cost of groceries and how we plan for the meals we are going to eat especially during the week when we are juggling so many things and got me thinking that everyone probably struggles with this too. I am no expert on meal planning on cooking, that is for sure but I have found things that work for our family and one of them is meal planning using some of my favorite cookbooks.

We have the same things on rotation a lot but I do love throwing in a new recipe when I know we have a night at home and I will have extra time to try something new! My favorite cookbooks are also written by other busy moms so I feel like they totally get that meals need to be easy (including the ingredients being easy to find) and not take super long to put together.

So, without further ado…here are my top 5 cookbooks that I use all the time without fail!

  1. Mix and Match Meal Planning - It’s no secret that I love Shay’s blog so of course I bought each of her cookbooks. This one if my favorite because it is broken down by seasons and the meals are so quick and easy. I have not made one meal that my family didn’t like and most of these can be made GF/DF with a few substitutes.

  2. Mix and Match Simmers - Another Shay book but this time, make it crockpots, Lol. Crockpot meals save my life during the busy school year especially on nights that we have cheer. I will start the crockpot later in the day so that it is ready when we get home and it is a working mom trick I feel like I have perfected. Shay creates such easy meals for families so her crockpot book was a no brainer for me.

  3. Magnolia Table V.1 - I feel like this one is so basic to say but I mean it when I say, her meals are SO good. the queso is our favorite and we could eat that as a meal in and of itself. Joanna’s meals are little more involved then the ones listed above but all have been great and it is so pretty too!

  4. Magnolia Table V.2 - Okay, I am repeating here yes….4 of my favs are written by 2 people but when you like what you like, it makes sense. I will say I like V1 more than V2 so if you only choose one, do the first but her follow up cookbook has great meals and they are always a fan favorite in our house.

  5. True Roots - This book is by Kristin Cavallari and I love it because no matter what I make, I know it’ll be GF/DF and sometimes, I just need to be able to not think about substitutes. I haven’t tried her 2nd book but I love this one and I find that she makes it simplified especially if you are just starting the GF/DF way of eating. Highly recommend this cookbook for those with dietary limitations.
