Weekend Happies

Ya’ll I know I am not alone in feeling like this is the Monday-est, Tuesday ever! We had a great long weekend but I feel like I am paying for it today especially after not sleeping well last night. I did something to my back and it has been hurting me for weeks - I think it is a muscle strain but now I am second guessing that since it isn’t healing - anyways, I am tired and all out of sorts on my routine so today I thought I would keep it short and sweet and just share a few happy moments from our weekend.

On Saturday the girls had a cheer game in Tampa. Because of the hurricane all of the game times were switched around and somehow we lucked out and scored the 10:00 am game! The weather was hot but not crazy (we usually cheer at 2pm in the heat of the day) and we were done by noon which was amazing.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and we have 2 families on our squad who have navigated the journey of childhood cancer so it was super special to add yellow ribbon to their shoes in support of them and all of the families walking through cancer diagnosis. This is truthfully my favorite part of organized sports…watching the kids support each other and show love to one another.

Since we were in Tampa and minutes away from the International Mall we decided to head there after the game and enjoy lunch and some shopping. It’s my favorite mall and an a little over an hour from our house so we don’t go often so I loved taking advantage of that time! It is also minutes away from Raymond James stadium and I saw on Instagram that one of the Buccaneers players was a coach for the team we were playing against. I didn’t know which team he coached for (his son is on the team) but you know I prayed hard that I would somehow run into him, lol.

Much to my excitement his son was on the team we were playing against so we saw him a ton and the girls got to shake his hand at the end of the game. I jokingly was telling them to yell Go Bucs to him because I wanted to meet him (LOL) but they didn’t and I thought my chance was over. But, before we headed out of the field we ran smack dab into his family and my girls came through yelling Go Bucs!

I was beside myself as you can imagine, ha! His family was so sweet and he was gracious enough to snap a photo with me.

On Sunday we planned to go out on the boat but when we picked it up realized a relay burnt out and had water in it so we are thinking the amount of rain we got from the hurricane flooded it and burnt it out so no boat for us which was a complete bummer. We decided to pivot and instead did some housework we have been avoiding #yardwork and then Joe and I got in a date night while Cam watched the girls.

We tried out a brand new place Osteria 500 which is an Italian restaurant and it was seriously some of the best food and drinks we have ever had in Florida. After living in NJ/NY and getting amazing food coming back to Florida that is lacking in good restaurant this was an amazing surprise. If you live in the area, its in Waterside and I could not recommend it enough.

On Monday we all slept in and relaxed for the morning and then in the afternoon headed to the pool with friends where the kids swam for 5+ hours, we had a BBQ and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was the perfect ending to “summer” even though we still have months and months left of summer weather, lol. I totally failed and didn’t take any pictures but going to chalk that up to enjoying ourselves too much to take the picture!

I hope your long weekend was spent resting and having fun with the ones you love. And I hope you Tuesday doesn’t feel quite like Monday as it does over here, lol!
