RECENT READS

Happy Thursday friends!

I have shared before that I since the pandemic started and since losing my Grandma, I have had a really hard time reading. I used to read 50+ books a year, I was in a book club that I loved so much in NJ (We were even an official Harper Collins Book Club for a year #TheLitLadies) and I spent all my free time soaking up books. But, for some reason when the pandemic hit (well, I know the reason…burn out) and then with grieving I cannot read for long periods of time and nothing (except Colleen Hoover) holds my attention.

I have only read 13 books this year and that makes me cringe because I truly do love it and I want to read more. So, I am trying my best to make it a daily habit again even if just for 5 pages so I can find my love of reading again.

I shared back in March by recent reads from Q1 of 2022 and today, I thought I would share what I have read in the last couple months and what I am currently reading in case you are looking for ideas on new books to add to your TBR pile.

The Girls in the Stilt House by Kelly Mustain - I give this one 3 stars. I read it as part of a podcast book club and I didn’t love it. The story was incredible but it was so incredibly slow and drawn out for me.

Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover - 5 stars for CoHo’s newest book. I swear I love everything she writes and I wish I didn’t want to spread her books out because I know I would devour them. But, I don’t want them to end so I spread them out lol This book is phenomenal and I read it in just a couple days.

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover - Another 5 stars…I actually read this in one day. I was recovering from COVID in June and grabbed it and could not put it down. One of her very best books.

The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes - 4 stars for my girl SR! I love Shonda and I loved getting to know her a little better through this book. Plus, all the Grey’s references just made my heart sing, LOL. Her story is really interesting and watching her come out of her shell in this book is really beautiful and inspiring.

True Comfort Cookbook by Kristin Cavallari - I love reading cookbooks. I get it from my Grandpa, we will both read cookbooks like books cover to cover. I have really been trying to watch my sugar intake and being that she is also GF/DF I find her cookbooks really good because she doesn’t use crazy hard to find ingredients. Plus, her recipes are easy as a busy mom of 3 and I just love her LOL

I am currently reading….

Beach Read by Emily Henry - This has been on my TBR for a while even though it has mixed reviews. I am about half way through and its just okay. It’s cute but a little slow for me but I will definitely finish because I enjoy it enough to keep going. Hoping to finish it this weekend while we are away.

Built to Sell: Creating a Business That Can Thrive Without You by John Warrillow - A friend of mine suggested this book when I told her I wanted a business development/leadership book. It is a short read so I am hoping to get through it fast, so far it has great nuggets of information and help!

What are you currently reading? What should I add to my TBR?
