My Top 10 Favorite Nail Polish Colors
I have been going to the nail salon and getting my nails done professionally since I was old enough to have a job and get them done! I used to love a trip to the nail salon and always looked forward to my appointments. I’ve done acrylics, gel manicures, dip powder…you name it, I have tried it on my nails.
A few months ago I broke one of my nails really bad and had to take my dip polish off. It was broken and split down to my cuticle and I needed to let it heal before getting back into the salon. During the time I had my polish off I felt so naked without polish on and thought about them nonstop. When my nail healed enough for polish but not enough for the salon I decided to start painting my nails at my home so I could feel like myself again and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed sitting down, watching a show and painting my nails.
The more I did them at home, the more I realized that I actually didn’t enjoy going to the nail salon anymore for my nails (I still love a good pedicure) and that I loved saving the money of going every 2 weeks to get them done (in our area a gel or dip manicure if $60+ at least and that doesn’t include getting the other dip off and then if you get a pedicure it is double). So, I decided to invest in a little nail polish color collection and supplies and I have been loving them all since.
I am not a light nail polish person, I prefer darker nails that give more of a “full coverage” and I also love color! There is nothing more fun than switching up your nail polish color and I love the flexibility I have now ever more to change them weekly versus every two weeks.
Now, I will say that the key to getting the polish to stay is proper prep (cleaning, buffing, etc) and then a base and top coat. My favorite base coat is this one from Orly and my favorite top coat is also from Orly. Don’t skip this step, if you do they will peel and chip so easily.
Below are my tried and true favorite nail polish colors and much to my surprise, Sally Hansen is the polish that for me lasts the longest.
