Friday Favs 8.25.23

Happy Friday friends, we made it to the weekend!!! 🎉

Today we are going to just jump right into to Friday Favorites linking up with Erika and Andrea! I have a busy day ahead and lots I want to knock off my to do list so that we can have a relaxing weekend outside of cheer. This week has been a busy but good one and we are all feeling the effects of such a busy schedule so we are going to snag as much down time as we can this weekend!

First up is my favorite from the week. Ya’ll Facebook Time Hop does me in just about every single day and earlier this week this memory popped up. This photo is probably 6-7 years old and those little faces, the girls matching outfits and that house, brought me to tears. The days are long but the years are short and this trip felt like it was just the other day. The kids are posing in front of my Grandparents house in Maryland and every time I see this photo I am transported back to the 90’s and spending as much time as I could in that home. That house holds most of my happy memories as a child and I can still picture every detail inside imaging my Grandma in the kitchen and my Grandpa in the garage.

Our sweet little Goldendoodle, Oakley is named after this house (it sits on Oakley Drive in Maryland — they no longer live here) and while so much of my childhood was really hard and traumatic, this home reminds me that it wasn’t all bad because of the amazing Grandparents I have.

Wondering why we are so tired with back to school? This right here…cheer!

In August we have cheer 5-6 days per week. Everyday we get home from school and about 1.5 hours later head to the field for 2-2.5 hours Monday - Friday and now games have started on Saturday too. So we are literally just on the move all freaking day. After Labor Day we go down to 3 practices a week and games Saturday (comps start in October) so it will feel a bit more manageable but August always kicks our butts. We literally haven’t been home one evening in August.

The girls are still on the same squad which does make it easier but whew, Mama (and girls!) are ready for the September schedule. Lol.

So I have mentioned on the blog I think but definitely on IG that this summer I attempted to make a sourdough starter and ya’ll I made my first loaves of bread this week. I cannot even believe it. After 2 months of trial and error trying to get it started and growing, my starter finally made something!! I am so proud of this…it looks and tastes delicious and I can’t wait to keep making more.

If you haven’t ever tried to make sourdough, it is a labor of love. You have to feed it and care for it like a child and it isn’t as easy as it looks! I have really enjoyed the process from start to finish and I think my family is shocked I pulled this off, lol.

Another favorite of the week are the new arrivals that launched at Shop Rooted and Free.

This week our new arrivals really focused on everyday items like accessories and easy to style and wear rompers! I had to really keep myself from keeping one of everything but I did keep a good chunk of the new stuff!

New arrivals are always my favorite and I can’t wait to share what I have in store for September’s collections!

Savannah snapped this picture of me as we ran out the door to head to cheer. We hadn’t been home long, just enough time to do homework and change for cheer. I was delivering an order to the field to a mom who ordered online and my hands were full…and while I am exhausted I wouldn’t change it for the world!

Last but not least yesterday the girls and I celebrated pumpkin spice season with a trip to Starbucks after school. It may still be 102 degree outside but we are excited for all the fun stuff fall brings!

I hope you all have a great weekend, I will see you back here next week!
