Tips On Drinking Coffee At Home
Like most people we know, I am working hard on sticking to our budget and cutting out unnecessary spending where I can. This economy is hard and I know so many people are struggling and while we are not in ways that many are, I still think that it is wise to make changes where you can and save money the best you can.
One thing that we realized when we reevaluated our budget is that we don’t actually enjoy eating out or grabbing coffee out as much as we used to. For years, we ate out way more than we probably should have been and for many years (especially in the throws of toddlers) I lived for grabbing a Starbucks when we were out and about and solo time at Target with a latte in my hand was a favorite of mine.
But, understanding that we weren’t enjoying it the way we used to and that we want to save money in that category of our budget we decided that we would only eat out on Saturday’s (usually we are out and about with cheer, the boat, Disney or something else). This has saved us money and time and honestly, it makes eating out on Saturday’s way more enjoyable.
For me, I have started to really enjoy making coffee at home both hot and iced and I enjoy it so much that when the girls begged me to go to Starbucks a few times this summer, I didn’t love the coffee I got and ended up giving it to them to split or ordering an Iced Tea instead. Which ya’ll I have to be real here and tell you that I thought giving up that weekly Starbucks would be super hard because I loved that routine I had especially when I had pop ups.
Anyways, my favorite tips for drinking and enjoying coffee at home…
Find coffee you love. I used to just buy whatever k-cups were on sale and now, I found the ones I love and I order those even if one is a little cheaper. A little more on coffee at home is still cheaper than coffee out.
Keep a few different creamers on hand. We usually have 2-3 creamer types in the fridge plus heavy whipping cream so that we can switch back and forth depending on what we are in the mood for.
Have iced coffee on hand. I usually buy the Stok or Starbucks cold brew to have at home and I even bought reusable Starbucks cups to drink them from. It makes it quick and easy to whip up an iced drink when we want one.
Brew tea to have at home. Sometimes, I just want a little caffeine and something besides water so I have started to have tea brewed at home. I prefer unsweetened tea and that little bit of caffeine helps me honestly not crave coffee as much.
Fun cups on hand. This one for me is like having a cute new outfit to workout in, girl math says that will help me want to workout and same goes for a cute cup at home, it makes me want to use it and actually drink coffee at home!
Okay friends, if you are trying to save money on drinking coffee out or, you are just trying to make better decisions (coffee at home like food is always going to be healthier than out) I hope these 5 tips help you. They seem simple but I promise these few little tweaks is all it can take to help you break a habit if you grab coffee out often.
