Lemon Essential Oil: 4 Ways to Use

It’s been a while since I have shared about essential oils on the blog but that doesn’t mean that I have stopped using them! We still use and love essential oils and if you are new here, you can read about our journey to lower-tox living here.

I have said it a million times but I always think it is worth repeating, we will never be 100% toxic free as a family. While I admire that of many families, that is just not our journey or reality and I think that is a-okay! I truly believe that all the little decision we make add up over time and using lower-tox items and non-tox items as it serves our family best is the journey we are on. Not only do I think this is more sustainable for us but, it removes the pressure to be perfect and ya’ll I don’t need anything adding to my perfectionism tendencies.

Anyways, I have been LOVING using lemon essential oil in my diffuser as the weather warms up and it made me realize that I have never shared my love for this oil on the blog and all the ways that you can use the oil so today, that is changing!

Here are my favorite four ways to use lemon essential oil:

  1. Diffusing - Lemon oil (much like all citrus oils) is very uplifting and the citrus smell is heavenly making it the perfect oil to diffuse and replace those spring candles. You can add it to any blend you love or, diffuse it alone and you will have a fresh, mood boosting scent filling your home.

  2. Tones/Tightens/Brightens - I love adding lemon oil to our cleaners, laundry detergent and skin care because of its properties to tone and brighten your clothing, skin and more. It’s a simple add in and on that packs a big punch.

  3. Natural Goo-Gone - You know that sticky price tags that stores just love to put on the front of something in the most annoying place? Well, lemon essential oil will remove that in an instant. Whether it is a sticker, tape or something else with adhesive lemon oil will be your go to with one drop and a wipe!

  4. Nail Care - Did you know that lemons can help care for your cuticles and strengthen your nails? My daughter actually discovered this and I thought “no way” at first but yep, she was right lemon will absolutely help to soften your cuticles as you do your nails and you can apply a drop of oil to help strengthen them. As someone who loves to have their nails done but who breaks her nails easily, this is a game changer for me!

What I love most about lemon essential oil is that the oil is so affordable and cost effective. When I first switched to using oils I was afraid that it would break the bank over and over again but lemon oil is one that is so affordable and really goes a long way with tons of different uses.

If you are new on your low-tox journey this is an oil that is a great one to start with! If you have any questions or want help starting your low-tox journey, let me know, I would love to help!
