House Plants and Oils

This morning I had planned to post an oily post but truthfully, I had no idea what I was going to talk about. I am trying to be more intentional about sharing how we use oils in our home and how we try to be as low-tox as we can.

I always give a little disclaimer and say, we will never be 100% toxic free and I am okay with that but I do want to use low-tox as much as I can because I believe that you can make a difference in your family and life without completely getting rid of every single product you currently use.

Do I still get my nails done? Yes.

Do I burn candles? No.

Do I still color my hair? Yes.

Do I use body wash filled with toxins? No.

You get the idea, I try to create a balance in our life so that the things I don’t want to give up (like getting my nails done) don’t have as much of an impact because I am being intentional in other areas.

Anyways, back to my oily post today…I get off track easily sometimes, lol.

I was filling our diffusers before school today and noticed the plant above pictured with my diffuser. I have these on my kitchen counter and I love filling my diffuser every morning while I am opening up the house and the girls are getting ready for school. Typically in the morning I diffuse Thieves and Lemon oils so we get the immune boosting benefits from Thieves and feel uplifted to start out the day. When I was filling to diffuser I noticed how much growth my plant next to it has and how green and healthy it looks!

Ya’ll I love house plants so much but sometimes, I forget to water them, haha! I will be on a roll for a long time and then weeks will go by and I will feel like shoot, when is the last time I watered this plant. Which is the exact thought I had this morning on this plant and how it is looking so healthy. But…it gets the benefits of my diffuser every single day!

Doesn’t it look so pretty? You can’t even see the cute planter it is in but that’s okay because this plant is amazing looking!

So, I thought today, I would share some tricks and tips you can use on your plants with EO’s!

  1. Use your household cleaner to spray and clean leaves!

  2. Add Citrus Fresh EO to your water to help purify your soil.

  3. Use Tea Tree EO if you start to see a fungus on your plant.

  4. Use Lemon EO to help get the dust off your plants.

Something that we always have around and use on the house plants is a bug spray! Here is the quick and easy recipe below

BUG SPRAY //

Use 16 oz spray bottle with the following oils and products :

  • 10 drops each Rosemary, Clove, Peppermint & Orange oil

  • Cap of Thieves Concentrate

  • Fill the rest with distilled water

Spray directly on dirt and plant until pests are gone or as a preventative. Usually this is one of Paisley’s chores when we clean each week.

*Recipe is from Nesting with Grace who is one of my favs to follow when it comes to oily resources

My goal is to show you how living low-tox can be simple and easy - and how you can use your oils in your everyday left without feeling complicated!
