Friday Favorites 8.11
Happy Friday friends! If you are in Florida (or the other southern states that started school this year) happy back to school! Mamas, we survived another summer and I pray that we are all headed into the best school year yet!
This week has been nothing short of chaos as we knocked out the rest of our back to school to-do list, enjoyed the last day of summer having fun, then back to school with cheer thrown in every-single-night đ and hours in the car yesterday for the first day of carline which almost set me over the edge of insanity.
While this week has felt a little chaotic and I would be lying if I said that 1 - I didnât miss the girls (I miss them so much after having them with me literally 24/7 this summer) but I would also be lying if I said I wasnât so happy that today seems to be reflective of what my days will look like this school year and gosh, I just love the quiet mixed with my music (and no one asking me to change it) and working in peace. See picture below, ha!
Anyways, I didnât blog as much as I wanted to this week (see the chaos above) but I am happy to be back fro Friday Favorites linking up with Erika and Andrea! This summer was a little hit or miss with the link up and blogging but I am excited to be back in the groove and look forward to linking up each week.
I would be remiss if I didnât show you back to school first! Savannah is headed to 7th grade and Paisley is headed to 5th grade and they both rather their first days a 9 out of 10. They love their teachers so far, have friends in their classes and love the classrooms. Our upper school is finally finished so Savannah is in a new building too that she was extra excited for.
I canât believe this is our last as elementary school parents! It is so true what they sayâŚthe days are long but the years are short! The girls wear uniforms but we loved these step and repeats at the open houses!
On Wednesday we had a fun girls day since it was the last day of summer. We met friends at the park for donuts and prayer (we prayed over all the kids before school started), exchanged shoes that were too big, grabbed lunch and then went to see Barbie!
We loved the movie so much, all 3 of us. There were definitely some parts that were inappropriate just heads up if you are taking kids (our theatre was half adults, half kids). They went over Paisleyâs head and then it gave Savannah and I a few things to talk about. Unfortunately, there is no way to shield them from that stuff as they get older and them being exposed to it with us allows us to chat about it so we take that approach with those moments.
Yesterday while they had their first day of school I had what I like to call âMomâs Decompression Dayâ â when I dropped them off I had a hair appointment, got a mani/pedi, grabbed lunch and came home and literally just ate in silence.
A few years ago I started to schedule these things intentionally on the first day and let me tell youâŚ.it has helped my mental health so much. After a summer of juggling all the things it is so nice to have a day of pampering and decompressing. I always always always thank my past self for scheduling this. I take the day off and while I may do a few things around the house if I have time typically I just take it easy. Not only am I decompressing from the summer but I also get my mind right to tackle what is always a carline mess at school, the extra supplies the teachers decided they need that arenât on the list, the catching up after school and all the paperwork.
It makes the day smoother for me and them. Highly recommend!!!
Speaking of decompressing from summerâŚ.I tried to decompress some during summer and get off the screen with reading more.
I shared earlier this week my summer reads if you are looking to add a few new books to your TBR pile.
Another favorite from this week and recently are the new arrivals at Shop Rooted and Free. This week we released our Game Day Collection and earlier this month we released our new inspired graphics collection supporting teachers!
A few other favorites of this week are some recent outfitsâŚ.
And few quotes I loved from InstaâŚ.
Whew! Alright I think that is all I have today. I am always hanging on IG and would love to have you join me there if you arenât already!
I hope you have a great weekend, see you back here Monday!
