A New Season: Fall Thoughts

Happy Fall friends! 🍃🍂🍁

Yesterday marked the official first day of fall and while that doesn’t mean anything for our weather here in Florida, the start of a new season always makes me feel rejuvenated, always makes me ponder life and gives me new energy to evaluate my goals and where we are in life - both personally and professionally.

I don’t know why but a new season always feels like the start of a new year but it really is the time to begin again if something is feeling off in your life, schedule or routines. We don’t have to wait until a new year to think through what isn’t working and make changes (even simple ones) that help us to create the life we love.

At the start of a new season, I love to ask myself a handful of questions so I can make any changes that are needed so I thought I would share those with you today.

  1. What is currently working? What is not working?

  2. What is currently on our schedule that creates a lot of stress and/or dread? Can I take this off our plate?

  3. What are the things we want to prioritize in our lives? What changes are needed to make this happen?

  4. What is a personal goal I am working towards? Does my schedule and/or habits support this? Same with professional - what is a goal I am working on and how am I supporting getting that accomplished?

  5. Are we prioritizing family time and creating space to rest? If not, how can we make sure these 2 things are priority.

It is so easy to just keep trucking along. To get into the rhythm of life and not enjoy the days that you have been given. It is easy to just keep doing it all even when it doesn’t feel life giving for you and is no longer working. But, I have found when I ask myself these hard questions, I can come face to face with what is working (and do more of that) and what is not working (and change that). This is the only way that we can create the lives we love and the days we can’t wait to get up for.

I want to challenge you today to take some time to yourself and think through these questions. Journal them, have a family meeting and really take into consideration what you want your days and weeks to look like and the actions you need to complete to make that reality. Small changes and routines/habits really will build on each other and you will be shocked at how easy this process comes when you do it with each season change.
